Uconn is So frustrating To watch
They are. I have seen over 90 percent of their games this year. I watched the St. Johns massacre on replay because I was at Ray Allen's 3 point record breaking game...Regardless, my fandom is not the point. They legitimately have the talent to win a national championship. I would not change a single piece of their puzzle. Kemba, Shabazz, Lamb, JCM, Roscoe, and Oriakhi have all played multiple excellent games against top 40 teams. I do not see their failures as a lack of ability or talent. They fail due to a lack of execution. A failure to execute against zone defenses has been a major mitigating factor along with a continued reliance on Kemba in the clutch, allowing him to dribble the shot clock down and then force a shot. As far as the zone goes, kemba can split the D and shoot the 3, so can Shabazz. Lamb, Shabazz, and JCM can all hit 3's from the wing. Lamb, JCM, and Roscoe can hit 3's from the baseline along with slash, and hit the boards. Side note Lamb's tip in late in the 2nd half was one of the most athletic plays i've seen all season. His hang time was that of a Chinook and his arms looked like he took them from the "go-go Gadget comic book". Oriakhi can hit the boards, pass adequately from the post and hit just enough short J's to make him useful against the zone. I don't know the solution other than mercilessly forcing them (in practice) to run a proper zone offense. They just don't run the offense and the thing is if they put stuff together for a few weeks, grab the right matchups, etc. they can easily put another Final Four banner up in Storrs.

911
Last night's broken hand for Chris Wright of G'town is a devastating injury for their postseason hopes. I would have to rank the most detrimental injuries this year as...
#1. Robbie Hummel-Yes, Purdue has played well without him and I love Johnson and Moore, but they would be even better and probably a top 5 as opposed to top 15 if Hummel was healthy.
#2. Wright-Word is that he will be back before the season is over, but will that be in time to play and play effectively in the NCAA games? Also how much will their seed be affected by losing him for the last few weeks of play? G'town is barely above average without Wright and with him they are an upset away from the FF.
#3. Kyrie Irving-Nolan Smith has played exceptional, making a case for ACC and National POY, which is why I rank Irving as the third most important injury. Also, Duke had time to recover from their loss, since Irving was hurt so early. However, if Duke doesn't make the FF, the impact of Irving's injury may need to be re-evaluated.
I was actually busy for a few days and haven't seen as much hoops as I would have liked, so hopefully I can get back online and keep this blog going.

Keady Court
Purdue beat OSU, but in my mind OSU beat themselves. A terrible offensive performance by OSU, quick 3's bad passes, bad looks, a lack of giving the ball to Sullinger...I do love Moore and Johnson for Purdue they straight up put the ball in the basket. If they can beat OSU, who can't they beat? Diebler broke Pete Lisick (Penn State) all time Big 10 three pointer record today. #1 I had no idea Diebler was anywhere near the record and then CBS after announcing he broke the record didn't say whose record he broke. This turned into a Sunday afternoon blessing in disguise. My brother and I decided, mainly me, that we would turn the afternoon into a Big 10 reminisce session and I began to guess all my possible Big 10 three point leaders. I rattled off Calbert Chaney, Voshon Leonard, Shawn Respert, AJ Guyton, Glen Rice, Deon Harris. Very happy with the Respert guess as he was 1 three pointer behind Lisick and additionally had cancer after his rookie season and kept it a secret. NBA all star weekend has been very funny. A few great quotes from my favorite Blake Lively fan, my girl Caity Mac.
1. Upon possibly seeing Randy Moss in a hoody in the stands on Saturday night. "Is that Randy Moss? He must not want anyone to see him, or he joined the KKK"
2. "ooo nice shoes" Me and Caity simultaneously upon seeing Ri Ri at halftime.
3. Javale McGee had his mom come out at the dunk contest and kiss each judge on the cheek. After a few jokes and a very awkward looking kiss with Dr. J that appeared to maybe be an on the lips kiss, the quote was "He should definitely win if he makes his dunk and runs off the court with the DNA test that says the Doctor is his Dad"
